Willis Cook Obituary

Willis "Bud" Cook, Jr., 66, of Blue Mountain, MS, transitioned  on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS.

Willis “Bud” Cook Jr., born January 3, 1959, peacefully departed this life on December 3, 2025. Born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willis and Ruby Cook. Bud accepted Christ at an early age and lived with a generous spirit throughout his life.

A gifted handyman by nature and by trade, Bud was known for his steady hands, problem-solving mind, and willingness to help anyone in need. If something was broken, Bud could fix it-and if someone needed a friend, he was there.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Kalista Knox of New Albany, MS; his son Brandon Riddle of Ripley, MS; and his beloved grandchildren Brandon “BJ” Riddle and Braeya Riddle. He is also survived by two brothers, David (Mary) Cook of New Albany, MS and Varshawn (Shamika) Cook of Atlanta, GA; and five sisters, Vicky Cook and Barbara Ferguson of Blue Mountain, MS, Gwendolyn Cook of Guntown, MS, Johnnie Johnson of Tupelo, MS, and Charlet Edgeston of Ripley, MS.

Bud’s life was also blessed with devoted friends, including Mrs. Robbie “Ms. D” Duckworth, Gordon Garrison, and his best-friend Marlena Williamson. He leaves behind a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis Cook Sr. and Ruby Cook, his brother Thomas Simmons, and his sister Twadie Fitchpatrick. Bud’s memory will be honored for the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the countless things he repaired-both in homes and in hearts

“The Tools You Left Behind”

You left behind no heavy gold. No fortune on a shelf. Just well-used tools and precious truths. About love larger than oneself. Bud, your hands built more than lawnmower’s; They built our laughter, shaped our days. And now your legacy lives on In all you crafted through your ways. Though Heaven called you gently home. Your work remains in every room-A testament to who you were. A light no loss can ever gloom. From the family.
