Willie Frank Pickens was born on August 30, 1951 to the late Booker T. Pickens and Maurice (Stricklen) Pickens in Union County, Mississippi. Willie was one of four children.
At an early age he accepted Christ and joined Pine Bluff Church of Myrtle, MS, where he remained a faithful lifelong member. He served as a choir member, church trustee, and numerous committees. He honored God with all his heart and showed love for everyone he met.
Willie worked at Mohasco Furniture as a shift leader in the Show Wood for 28 years. He served with love, patience, duty and honor as Sheriff Deputy of Myrtle, MS (Myrtle One), for 20 years. He served with diligence, courage, pride, dignity, and compassion as a volunteer Fire Fighter for Union County and the surrounding areas for 45 years.
Willie departed this life on May 12, 2019 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents Booker T. and Maurice Pickens, one sister Mary Gray, and three grandchildren.
Mr. Pickens leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Hannah Pickens, six children; Lincoln Nugent, Frank Pickens (Leigh Ann Bridges), Leslie Frazier, Henery Pickens of Myrtle, MS, Monica Graves (Daruies) of Harker Heights, TX, and Willie D. Pickens (Jessica) of Myrtle, MS, two sisters; Peggie Westmoreland ad Flossie Pickens and one brother Holden Pickens (Shirley). He also leaves 26 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
