Mr. Willie Edward Odum, 62, of Byhalia, MS, transitioned on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital, Olive Branch, MS.
Willie Edward Odum, was born on July 25, 1961, to the late Lawrence Martin, Sr. and Mamie Odum. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion Taska M.B. Church. He departed this life on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital.
Willie graduated from H.W. Byers High School Class of 1981. He was employed at Kroger for many years. He was kind and considerate to all. Wille loved to play football, carpentry, fishing, and singing in the choir.
He leaves to cherish his memories: life partner: Darline Nabors of Byhalia, MS; two brothers: Charles Odum (Merry), and George Martin (Mary) both of Byhalia, MS; six sisters: Clara Hardaway (Johnny), Ida Morrison (Joseph), and Mary Gatewood all of Byhalia, MS, Lucy Odum of Red Banks, MS, Elnoria Coleman (Robert) of Nesbit, MS, and Bonnie Martin of Memphis, TN; two brothers-in-law: Lyles Walls of Byhalia, MS, and Alfonzo Isom, Sr. of Memphis, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Willie was preceded in death by his loving parents Lawrence Martin, Sr. and Mamie Odum; three sisters: Marie Walls, Florida Isom, and Odessa Johnson; three brothers: Lawrence Martin, Jr, Arthur Lee Martin, and Clarence Martin; one brother-in-law: Van Gatewood.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, 11:00 a.m., Mt. Zion Taska M. B. Church, Mt. Zion Road, Byhalia, MS 38661.
Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
