Obituary

Wanda J. Ruffin, 62, transitioned on Monday, March 7, 2022, Baptist Hospital, Oxford, MS.

Wanda Joyce Ruffin was born to the late Wilbur Bill Ruffin and Lillie Mae McGhee Ruffin on July 26, 1959 in Oxford, MS. She departed this life to join her Heavenly home on March 7, 2022 at Baptist Memorial North MS Hospital, Oxford, MS.

She professed her life to Christ at an early age at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Oxford, MS. She was a proud member of the Oxford High School graduating class of 1977 and she continued her education at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, MS.

"Wanda Kat," as she was affectionately called, was blessed with many talents. She was a jack-of-all-trades. However, her true passion was cooking. Her most famous dishes were fried chicken (with onions), potato wedges, hot water cornbread, greens and chitterlings. Her favorite pastimes included; playing Candy Crush, reading, going to the casino, taking care of animals, being surrounded by family and of course, being the life of the party.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents: Wilbur and Lillie Ruffin, siblings: Sammie McGhee, Wilbur Jean Ruffin-Hill, John Ruffin and Julia Ruffin, a grandson, Aramis Jones-Ruffin, and her K9 and life-long companion, Blondie Ruffin.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Laneshia Ruffin of Oxford, MS, granddaughters: Tyanna Green of Oxford, MS, Destiny and Stevie Green of Houston, TX, sisters: Deborah Jones (Joel) and Alice Ruffin both of Oxford, MS, sister-in-law; Betty McGhee of Lafayette, IN, aunts; Diley Ivy of Oxford, MS, Jean Price Tomblin of San Bernadino, CA and Cecilia Vaughn of Memphis, TN, uncle; Judge Ivy, Jr. of Chicago, IL, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and bonus grandchildren. She also leaves behind special friends: William Campbell of Oxford, MS, Penny Cook of Dewitt, AR and Patricia McGuirt of Saltillo, MS and her K9 great-grandchildren: Bandit, Bruno Green and King Ruffin.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 17, 2022, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Serenity-Burney Funeral Home Chapel, Oxford, MS.

Service will be Friday, March 18, 1022, 1:00 p.m., Serenity-Burney Funeral Home Chapel, Oxford, MS.

Burial will take place at Oxford  Memorial Cemetery.
