Vernell Wilson ("Goody") Dixon

On Saturday, June 8th 2019, God called Vernell “Goody” Wilson home to be with him. She was born on the 23rd day of March 1938 to the late Johnny Frank Wilson and Christine Herndon who preceded her in death.

Sis Goody gave her life to Christ at an early age at West Grove M.B. Church, where she remained a member until death. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Jimmy Cook and later in the years she joined Holy Matrimony to the late Oscar Lee Dixon until death. During her time here on earth, Vernell, loved raising her chickens, pigs, tending to her garden and keeping her grandchildren during the summer. She loved God, and all her family and friends. Goody was a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Goody leaves to cherish her memory three daughters: Jimmie Hughes, Benita (Neal) Vance, and Anita (Darren) Gates. Four sons: Terry (Joyce) Dixon, Marvin (Wanda) Dixon, Elliott (Shelia) Dixon, William (Virginia) Dixon,  21 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and a special granddaughter Adrian “Cricket” Rucker. She also leaves three sisters, Emma (Floyd) Hatchett, Rosa Davis and Chris Herndon,  four brother's Connie (Peggie) Wilson, Warren Wilson, Fred (Jewel) Wilson, and Johnnie (Beverly) Wilson. Vernell leaves a host of nieces nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Lanita Nan Dixon, five brothers: Jimmy Wilson, Johnny Rogers, Willie “Bill” Wilson, Johnny A. Wilson and Sam Wilson five sisters: Annie Wilson, Janie Wilson, Zelda Herndon, Eloise Wilson and Magdeline Wilson.
