Velice Fitts

Mother Velice Fitts, 70, transitioned on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at her residence in Memphis, TN.

Velice “Vel-C” Fitts (as a twin) was born on January 9, 1952  to the late Sylvester Fitts Sr. and Pauline Street-Fitts in Byhalia, MS.

Velice professed her faith in the name of Jesus Christ and joined Mt. Sinai of Byhalia, MS.  She remained a member and served on the mother board until God called her home.  

Although, many knew her as “Vel-C”, she was known as “Sweetie” by her beloved and devoted fiancé, Mr. Joe Freeman Jr. for over 25 years.  Their love was truly unconditional.

Velice was preceded in death by her grandparents Willie and Florean Fitts, one sister Mary Dell Fitts, one brother Elma Ingram, and two nephews.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Pauline Street-Fitts of Byhalia, MS; her fiancé, Joe Freeman Jr., of Memphis, TN; four children, DeAngelo Fitts, Fredrick (Keisha) Fitts, Jackie Fitts, and Andre Sr. (Myleise) Fitts, all of Byhalia, MS; her grandchildren, Jacora, Camillia, Jaleaha, Johnathan, Andre Jr., A’Xireiah, Payton and Octavius Fitts; her brothers, Dewayne (Shirley) Fitts, of Byhalia, MS; Pernell Fitts, of Byhalia, MS; Silous ( Angela) Fitts, of Memphis, TN; Sylvester Jr. (Felicia) Fitts, of Byhalia, MS; Elvis Ingram, Samuel Ingram, Jimmy D. Ingram, Boyd Ingram, all of Byhalia, MS;  her sisters, Ida Mae Rayford, of Defiance, Ohio, Willie Seal (Peter) Booker, of Fort Wayne, IN; Berdotha F. (Johnnie) Brooks, of Byhalia, MS; Teresa Stewart, of Olive Branch, MS; Airlean Fitts of Memphis, TN; Ivy Fitts (Jerry) Stephenson, of Byhalia, MS; and Annette Fitts of Fort Wayne, IN; Glady Harton, Alma Standback, Annie Ingram, Helen Clayton?, all of Byhalia, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Visitation will be Friday, November 25, 2022, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity-Autry Funeral Home Chapel, Holly Springs, MS.

Services will be on Saturday, November 26, 2022, 12:00 Noon, at Mt. Sinai M.B, Church, 1890 Mt. Sinai Road, Byhalia, MS.

Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Serenity-Autry Funeral Home of Holly Springs, MS, is in charge of arrangements.
