Mr. Troy Buggs was born on July 13, 1952, in Benton County, Mississippi, to the late Eli Buggs and Rosie B. Smith Buggs.
He received his education in the Benton County School System.
At an early age, Troy confessed his faith in Christ and united with Hardaway Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained rooted in his spiritual foundation.
Troy had a deep love for racing, a passion he shared with his brothers and friends.
Together, they became widely known in the community as the "Buggs Boys Racing," leaving behind lasting memories of camaraderie and excitement.
On July 7, 2000, Troy was united in holy matrimony to Pearley Elliott, beginning a loving and devoted partnership.
He was a dedicated and hardworking man, faithfully employed by Carrier Corporation for 38 years before retiring.
In addition to his parents, Troy was preceded in death by his brothers, E.L. Buggs and Rickey Lee Buggs; and his sisters, Floyce Hunt and Mae L. Nelson.
Troy leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Pearley Buggs of Michigan City, MS; two sons. Tyrrell Osler (Angela) of Killeen, TX and Justin Buggs of Michigan City, MS; one daughter, Lydia Buggs of Olive Branch, MS; six grandchildren, Jaleah Buggs, Lyric Thomas, Tayler Buggs, Raymond Felton, Tankia Reed and Reola Osler and 10 great-grandchildren; Four Sisters, Loyce Scott, Valandy Poplar, Rosie (Dwight) Rucker of Michigan City, MS, and Annie (Kenneth) Jackson of Grand Junction, TN; four brothers, Jasper Buggs, Sr, Le Buggs, Danny Lee (Joann) Buggs, and Charles (Sandra) Buggs, of Michigan City, MS, Brother-in-law, T.C. Elliott (Luetissue); A special sister-in-law, Mary Jean Buggs. He leaves behind host of nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Special friends; Billy Street, Richard Murdock, Mack Joy, Jerome Curry, Robert Faulkner, TC Poplar, and the late John Lane Hobson.
Three special cousins Willie Smith, Johnny R. Smith, and Johnny McKinnie, Sr.
Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 6:00PM, Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 North Memphis Street, Holly Springs, MS 38635.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Hardaway M.B. Church, 1177 Hardaway Church Road, Michigan City, MS 38647.
Burial will follow at Hardaway M.B. Church Cemetery in Michigan City, MS.
