Taruno Carothers Obituary

On January 31, 1980 the Lord saw fit to bless Carl Edward Phillips and Rosie Marie Carothers with a handsome son. Taruno was better known as “Punkin” or “Mook”. As a child Taruno was always active and kept everyone on their toes. He had a love for outdoors and spending time with his family.

Taruno was a member of the Bayson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS under the current leadership of Pastor Amos Sims.

Taruno was born in Water Valley, MS. He graduated from Water Valley High School in 2000. He spent a small amount of time in the United States Military before being discharged for medical reasons. He was fond of his job with Williams Transfers in Tupelo, MS. He was a hard and dedicated worker up until his accident.

Taruno brought laughter and life to all those who came in contact with him. He looked forward to hunting season and fishing every year. Later in life Taruno grew a love of playing softball with the Atomic Dogs softball team. He also had a love for riding 4wheelers with the Boss Hog Outlaws. Above all he lived life every day.

Proceeding him in death are his parents, Carl Phillips and Rosie Carothers, and his grandfather, William Carothers.

Celebrating his life and continuing his legacy are his two sons, Jaquarrius Martrell Carothers and Davion Jarrell Carothers both of Water Valley. He leaves his grandparents, Raymond and Ora Phillips and Martha Carothers of Water Valley; his siblings: DeCarlos Moore of Coffeeville, Mikaila Dowsing of Oxford, Rodchadro Carothers of Courtland, Brittney Dowsing of Shreveport, LA, and Carlton Phillips of Olive Branch; and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends to keep his memory alive.

Although we will truly miss and love him, we rejoice in knowing he is reunited with his parents.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 4-6p.m., at Serenity-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel. Serenity-Daniels Funeral Home of Water Valley is in charge of the arrangements.
