Mrs . Sue Ward Pugh

Another steel magnolia has fallen. Sue Ward Pugh passed away, Monday, April 3, 2023, with her three daughters by her side. She was born February 16, 1936 in Dresden, TN, to the late John D. Ward and Mary L. Bowlin. She retired as the Sherman Town Clerk, where she enjoyed her public service. She was the BEST cook and loved being a Red-Hatter. She was a frequent patron at the local Bingo Hall and was always up for the occasional longer trip to Tunica. Even more importantly, she adored Elvis Presley and everyone knew it!  As a matter of fact, we are looking forward to the day when we find out just who she visited first upon arrival at the pearly-gates-her mother and daddy, Will, or more likely, Elvis!

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Will, in 2018. She is survived by her three daughters, Lana Coker (Roger), Tina Ward-Pugh (Laura Ryan) of Louisville, KY, Dana Coker (Tommy), her grandchildren, April Mitchell (Brad), Dale Coker (Brittney), Kayla Coker Hill, T.J. Coker, Tori Self (Robbie), Jill, Breck, and 12 great-grandchildren.

All are invited to a Celebration of Sue's life, on Saturday, April 8, 2023,  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m-3:00 p.m., Service from 3:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.,  and Final Visitation from  4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home, 722 Coulter Drive, New Albany, MS.

Memorial gifts may be made to LeBonheur Children's Hospital, in Memphis, TN, the League of Women Voters, Louisville, KY or the charity of your choice.
