Mr. Roy Chester McKay, 68, transitioned on Friday, April 25, 2025, at his residence, in Potts Camp, MS.
Roy Chester McKay was born on April 29, 1956, to the late Freddie McKay, Sr. and Laura Tucker McKay in Benton County, MS. On Friday, April 25th, 2025, he transitioned at his residence in Potts Camp, MS.
Roy accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Samuel Chapel M.B. Church in Ashland, MS. He attended Old Salem High School in Ashland, MS. He was a farmer at Mitchell Farms for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on cars.
Roy leaves to cherish his memories: wife: Deveren Clayton McKay of Benton County, MS; one son: Hurshel Clayton (Cameshia) of Holly Springs, MS; three daughters: Markeisha Rooks of Corinth, MS, Jessica Clayton, and Deanna Clayton both of Holly Springs, MS; two brothers: John Andrew McKay (Dorothy) of Potts Camp, MS and Lafayette McKay of Memphis, TN; three sisters: Rosie McKay of Memphis, TN, Clara McKay (Harry Wilkins) of Holly Springs, MS, and Aretha Worthy (Alfred L.) of Olive Branch, MS; eleven grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his loving parents: Freddie McKay, Sr. and Laura Tucker McKay; two brothers: Freddie McKay, Jr and Cornelius McKay; two sisters: Clara Louise Dortch and Roebirdia Tucker.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Serenity Funeral Home, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635.
Burial will take place at Harris Chapel C.M.E. Church, Ashland, MS.
