Robert McGlown Obituary

Mr. Robert C. "Pistol" McGlown, 76, of New Albany, MS, transitioned on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at North MS Medical Center, Tupelo, MS.

Robert “Pistol” Curtis McGlown was born in Oxford, Mississippi on April 8, 1948, to the late Andrew Golden and the late Susie Mae Houston of New Albany, MS. He departed this life on December 24, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. He accepted Christ at Watson Grove Baptist Church in New Albany, MS. He had a deep love for music throughout his life, evident by his extensive music collection and his time with the Mosley and Johnson Band. 

He was especially fond of his great-nephews, Scoota, Buddy Mac, Mutt-Mutt, and Roosta with whom he shared countless and treasured memories. For many years, he worked for Denotee Martin Construction and contributed significantly to the company.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his lifelong companion of 31 years, Gloria Welch, his sons; Kerry Jenkins (Erik) of Chicago, IL, D’Marcus Alexander of Ackerman, MS, and Adrian Alexander of Tulsa, OK, his grandchildren; Ashton Alexander, Landon Moore, one brother Samuel “Sam” Howard (Sarah) of Clinton, MD, three sisters; Constance “Snap” Howard of Racine, WI, Barbara “Bob” Washington (James) of New Albany, MS, and Angerline “Ann” Braxton of Upper Marlboro, MD, nieces; Crystal Bowling, La’Toyia Howard, Portia (Emilio) Dixon, and Micha Washington, nephew; Miles Washington, great nephews; Kylan Lindsey, Kamari Johnson, Kameron Carruthers, and Kayden Carruthers, and close cousins; Willie “Stinky” Johnson and Miles “Mike” Johnson. He also leaves to cherish his memories, his step-siblings; Rose Mary Houston, Elizabeth (Russell) Buck, Laura Tallie, Carolyn (Robert) Jones, Marilyn Nicholson, Essie Houston, Barbara (Gary) Bolden, Sharon (Bobby) Martin and Roscoe Houston all of Oxford, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father; Robert “Ham” Houston, and step-sisters; Frances Moore and Frankie Houston.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, 11:00 a.m. until time of Service at 1:00 p.m., at Watson Grove M.B. Church, 521 E. Bankhead St., New Albany, MS  38652
