Deacon Robert Armstrong, 77, of New Albany, MS, transitioned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Diversicare Nursing Home, Tupelo, MS
He was bom January 23, 1947, to Booker T. and Sadie Armstrong in New Albany, MS. He was a 1964 graduate of B.F. Ford High School. He received his B.S. degree from Mississippi Valley State in 1968. Robert was a teacher for the Headstart Program for 32 years. He was a member of the Masons, New Albany Lodge #171 and Ripley Lodge #334, a Scout Master, and a member of the Democratic Executive Committee.
Robert was a life-long member of Red Hill M.B. Church where he served in various positions. He served in the Pontotoc District Association, where he taught classes. In his past times he enjoyed sports, attending church and community functions. He was married to Gwen High Armstrong July 1, 1989.
He Is survived by daughters; Rob- in (Kendrick) Owens and Aundrea High, 7 grandchildren, brothers; Henry and Lonnie, daughter-in-law; Jasmica.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home, 722 Coulter Drive, New Albany, MS 38652
Services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Red Hill M.B. Church, 1242 County Road 194, Blue Springs, MS 38828
Burial will take place in the church cemetery
