Rev. Shandle Howell was born February 15, 1971 to the late Earnestine Carruthers and George Howell in New Albany, Ms. He departed this life on August 27, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center.
He was a member of New Birth Community Church where he served as an associate minister and a Sunday school teacher. He became an ordained minister on July 25, 2009. He studied at the Faith Bible Institute at the 1stEvangelical Church under Pastor Ronnie Gibbs.
He loved the games of football and basketball. He was an adamant fan of the Tennessee Titans, Mississippi State and the Philadelphia 76’s. Although he didn’t play much basketball, he loved to referee the game, which he did for many years. He was also the biggest fan of the TV series, The Game of Thrones.
Shandle was a lover of music of all kinds. He was employed for a short time in his younger years as a DJ at Radio Station WSEL in Pontotoc, MS. He was also employed over the years in the furniture industry at Westwood, Ashley’s, Lane and lastly Southern Motions.
Shandle leaves to cherish his memory his wife Arlesha Howell; four children, Shaniqua Howell of Pontotoc, Ms, Montez Howell of Chico, Ca, Shalita Edwards of Nashville, Tn and Kentrell (Miranda)Norman of New Albany, Ms.; two brothers, Tytus(Myrtle) Howell of Tupelo,ms and James Simmons of New Albany, Ms; two sisters, Michelle(Mitchell) Botts of Myrtle, Ms and Kim Pannell of Pontotoc, Ms.; ten grandchildren, Josh, Jayceon, Nakiya, Jordan, Jacori, Kadar, Josiah, Kalia, Rayshawn and soon to be Nalia; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, mother and father, two children, son, Shandle Howell Jr. and daughter, Cynthia Howell; a sister, Brenda Howell and a brother, Lee Carruthers.
