Philip Powell, 71, of Water Valley, MS, transitioned on Monday, July 8, 2024

Philip Duane Powell was born on April 14, 1953, to the late Albert D. Powell and Martha Ellen Bloomfield Powell in Danville, IL.   On Monday, July 8, 2024, he transitioned at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North MS in Oxford, MS.

Philip accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Yocona, MS. He was a veteran who served in the Navy.  He was employed with Whelan Security for several years.  Philip was an outgoing individual who enjoyed fishing, cooking, grilling, drag racing, camping, coloring and painting. He enjoyed basketball and football, especially Ole Miss.

Philip leaves to cherish his memories: two sons: Eric Powell (Mariechelle) of Germantown, TN and Anthony Powell of TX; two daughters: April Young of Bruce, MS and Amber Martin of Water Valley, MS; one brother: Timothy Powell (Karen) of IN; two sisters: Karen Jaggers and Barbara Redenbaugh both of IL; ex-wife: Emily Barnes Holland; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Philip was preceded in death by his loving parents: Albert D. Powell and Martha Ellen Powell; one brother: Stanley Powell; and one sister: Kathy Fox.
