Ora Carothers

Mrs. Ora Carothers, 63, transitioned on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS.

The Lord saw that you were getting tired on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Ora Mae Brown Carothers was called home.

Ora Mae Brown Carothers,  the daughter of the late Elvin Brown and Jessie  Louise Ivy  Brown was born on October 27, 1957 in Lafayette County, Mississippi.

Ora Mae accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until her health failed.

Ora Mae graduated from  Lafayette  High School in 1977;   she was a loving mother, sister, friend to all.  She loved her family, sports, and Fried Chicken; but most of all she Loved the LORD.

In 1978, Ora Mae married Richard Lynn Carothers, and to this union three children were born.

Her memory will be cherished by her three children; daughter LaRhonda Baker, sons LeShaun Carothers, and Anthony  Carothers all of Taylor, MS;   five sisters, Jeanette Phillips  of Oakland, CA,  Annie Louise Brown of  Abbeville,  MS,  Nila  Brown of  Sacramento, CA, Bennette (Jeff) Wadley of Taylor, MS, Rita (Jackie) Higginbottom of Oxford,  MS;  two brothers, Bobby Brown and Howard Brown both of Taylor, MS;  thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild;  Special friends Chip Rockette, Noveller Marion, Delinda Greer, Mary Ward, Rhonda Ivy, Linda Quarles, Dorthy Robinson, and G.B Morrow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two  brothers and one sister Mary Ann Brown Marzette.

Graveside Service will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 12 Noon at Yocona Cemetery in Taylor, MS. Serenity Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.
