Mrs. Shirley Jene Milker Clarkson, 82, transitioned on Friday, May 5, 2023, at her residence, in Holly Springs, MS.
Mrs. Shirley Jene Miller Clarkson was born on October 3, 1940, to the late Cassie Lacleade Miller and Hazel Mae Carpenter Miller. She confessed Christ at an early age and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Holly Springs, MS. She graduated from Ashland High School. She always made sure everyone else was taken care of, including her two great grandchildren; also cared for and took in stray animals. She was fond of hummingbirds and loved gardening.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son Tony DeSean Clarkson of Michigan City, MS; one daughter Tina Jo Thompson of Holly Springs, MS; one brother Johnny Miller (Kathy) of Hudsonville, MS; two sisters Hazel L. Miller of Lamar, MS and Barbara Pickens (Danny) of Saltillo, MS; four grandchildren Cody Clarkson (Heather) of Strayhorn, MS, Eric Thompson (Brooke) of Laws Hill, MS, Amber Thompson of Slayden, MS, and Laura Ann Gammel (Jonathan) of Grand Junction, TN; six great grandchildren Kaylee Jo Thompson of Holly Springs, MS, Aiden Thompson of Laws Hill, MS, Luke Thompson of Holly Springs, MS, Amelia Thompson of Laws Hill, MS, Dally Clarkson of Strayhorn, MS, and Katie Beth Yeager of Grand Junction, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Cassie Lacleade Miller and Hazel Mae Miller; ex-husband Tony Butch Clarkson; six brothers Arthur Carpenter, Jerry Miller, Charles Miller, Benjamin Miller, Bobby Miller, and Billy Miller; one sister Carolyn Clements.
Graveside burial will be Monday, May 8, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at Early Grove United Methodist Church, 1085 Early Grove Road, Lamar, MS.
