Mrs. Mary Keys Obituary

Mrs. Mary  Frances Keys, 76, of Baltimore, MD, formerly of New Albany, MS, transitioned on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD

Mary Frances Judon was born on October 25, 1947 in Ecru, Mississippi. She was the fifth and final child born to the late Frank Tillman and Hattie Carsene McGee Judon. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Center Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Later, she joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member - even when she moved to Maryland and watched the service every Sunday through the Facebook ministry.  She was an active member of the many churches where she served as First Lady, choir member and Bible study teacher.

On January 16, 2024 at Sinai Hospital, Mary Frances Judon Keys received a call from God that her new home was ready and it was time to take her rest. She entered eternal rest after serving in many roles - mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, wife, and servant of God. She shined her light for Christ as a Heroine of Jericho, member of M&M’s (The Mary’s and Martha’s), First Lady, Missionary, Choir member, coworker, and friend.

Mary married Lenard Charles Keys in 1964. To this union, six children were born.  Mary was a 1964 graduate of B.F. Ford High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Baker College in 2010. She was employed and retired from South Central Bell/Bellsouth with thirty years of service. Later, in her retirement years, she worked for Cingular Wireless, Peebles Department Store, and the Division of Medicaid.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, father, two sisters & brothers-in-law - Flossie & Leroy Owens and Odessa & Tommie Vaughn, two brothers & a sister-in-law - Sammie Lee Judon and Willie T. & Lowester Judon; her husband of 57 years, Rev. Lenard Charles Keys, two daughters - Audrey Lynette Burns and Amanda Francesca Rutherford.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, Benjamin L. (Celeste Erby) Keys of Jackson, MS; son in law, Reginald (Amanda Keys) Rutherford of Ripley, MS; daughters - Dr. Phyllis Y Keys of Essex, MD, Charlotte Y. Keys of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Melanie A.
