Mrs. Jimmie Montgomery Obituary

Mrs. Jimmie Kay Montgomery, 79, transitioned on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at her residence, in Pontotoc, MS.

Jimmie Kay Montgomery (Age 79), a central figure in the lives she touched, was born March 9th 1943 in Pontotoc, MS, and passed away in the early hours of January 29, 2023.  Those who remember her from her working years will call to memory her lasting presence as a press operator at Pontotoc City Cleaner for 40 plus years, and her work didn’t stop there.

She was an active member of Helping Hands and served with McDonald United Methodist Women at McDonald United Methodist Church, where she was a beloved member and Mother of the church.

She was a pillar of the community, whose doors were always open to warm your heart, feed your belly, and save you a seat right next to her on the porch.

She enjoyed her time by watching her “Stories” and looked forward to her daily phone call from her best friend Daisey Dixon, and never missed a chance at an outing with her dear friend and confidant Mary Cherry.

She is preceded in death by her parents Willie Hayes and Rose Lee Pinson Griffin, husband William Montgomery, one daughter Rosemary Ray, one son William Earl Montgomery, five siblings: Barbara Griffin, Joseph Griffin, John Hayes, Kathline, and Pearl Carter.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories five sons: Terry Williamson (Mary Katherine) of Pontotoc, MS, Jerry Lee Williamson (Addie), Robert Montgomery (Kimberly) both of Tupelo, MS; Michael Montgomery (Jackie), and Dennis Montgomery (Elizabeth) both of Pontotoc, MS; one daughter: Wanda Knox (Stacy) of Houlka, MS; six siblings: Willie Hayes, Jr., Betty Ann Griffin, Katheryn Griffin, John Lee Griffin, Herbert Griffin all of WI, and Opaline Kelly of MS; fifteen grandchildren: Erica Shumpert (Kejuan), Monye Bowdry (Anthony), Christian Clark (Raven), Castill Clark, Syleethia Holesome, Jabrayah Berry, Jara Jefferson, Garon Jefferson, DeVonta Montgomery, LaTavia Knox, Jeridiane Ray, Jimmy Ray, Brayden Ray Montgomery, Charlie Reagan Montgomery, and Sydnei Rose Montgomery; nine great grandchildren: Layken Parks, Kayden Shumpert, Harper Shumpert, Kade Bowdry, Kollyn Bowdry, Major Clark, Caio Clark, Midori Holesome-Williams, and Yehoshua Williams.

Special Honorary Family: Near and dear close cousin and friend: Violet Pinson; special friend who was loved like family: Francine Quinn; and a host of beautiful nieces, nephews, and cousins.
