Mr. Shelby Lee Vaughn

Mr. Shelby Lee Vaughn, 72, transitioned on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at his residence in New Albany, MS.

Our beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather and Friend is resting in the arms of his heavenly father.

Shelby Lee Vaughn was born March 11, 1951 in Myrtle, Mississippi to Celois Vaughn and Hattie Scales. He passed from this life into eternity on April 6, 2023 at his residence. Shelby accepted Christ as a youth and united with St. Mary UM Church. His formal education began in Chicago, IL. after relocating to MS, he attended  school at St. Mary  and graduated from B.F. Ford High School, class of 1969. After high school, he attended Rust College.  There he earned a degree in Physical Education. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma and a United States Army Veteran.

Shelby loved sports and especially excelling in Track and Field. He was very talented singing in the Men's Choir and when his health allowed, he also was a member of the Food Ministry. He enjoyed cooking and working with people.

He was employed with the McDonald's Corp. as a manager for 23 years where he encouraged young people to better their lives. In his past time, he enjoyed sports and traveling with his family.

Shelby was married to the late Denise Alexander Vaughn. To this union two children were born.

To cherish his memories he leaves one son; Tremelle Vaughn of New Albany, MS,  three grandsons; Shaun Vaughn and Jordan Vaughn  both of New Albany, MS,  Joel Vaughn, II, of Hattiesburg, MS,  one grand- daughter, Taylor Vaughn of New Albany, MS, great grandchildren; Sabbath and Shear Vaughn of New Albany, MS, one brother; Celois Vaughn, Jr.. many cousins, other relatives and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son: Joel Bradford Vaughn, and his wife Denise Alexander Vaughn.

Body will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. to 12:59 p.m., Services at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Unique Christian Ministries, formerly St. Mary's United Methodist Church, 1001 St. Mary Road, New Albany, MS 38642.

Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
