Mozella Walton "Mo",  70, transitioned on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Diversicare, in Southaven, MS

Mozella Walton “Mo” was born on January 2, 1954, to the late Edgar Walton and Ruby Pegues Walton in Lake Center, MS.  On Sunday, July 28, 2024, she transitioned at Diversicare of Southaven, MS.

Mozella accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Teamer CME Church in Holly Springs, MS. She was in the choir and organized church programs.  She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Class of 1973.  She was employed at Mulay Plastics for several years.  She volunteered at Cadet School and ICS Headstart.

Mozella was an outgoing individual who enjoyed fishing, and watching television, especially Walker Texas Rangers and Murder She Wrote.  She loved to laugh, have fun, and dance.

Mozella was a devoted mother of two children, and she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: one son: Kelvin L. Walton of Holly Springs, MS; one daughter: Mokeshia “Shana” Bell (Robert) of Memphis, TN; one brother: David Walton, Sr. (Marie) of Chicago, IL; two sisters: Maranda “Marble” Pegues-McNeil of Lake Center, MS, and Lillian Gertrude Walton-Wagner of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren: Kierra Walton of Holly Springs, MS, Briarria Smith, Braxxton Walton, and Khingston Bell all of Memphis, TN; two great grandchildren: Rashaad Walton and Alaysia Wright both of Holly Springs, MS; a special godson: Tellis M. Smith of Austin, TX; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Mozella was preceded in death by her loving parents: Edgar Walton and Ruby Pegues Walton; six brothers: Eugene Pegues, Pogher Lee Walton, Percy Tyrone Walton, James Edward Walton, Frank Theo Walton, and Luther Pegues; four sisters: Laura Pegues-Stinson, Remiles Pegues-Glover, Opal Walton, and Betty Pegues-Turnage.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 3:00  p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 North Memphis Street,  Holly Springs, MS 38635

Services will be held on Saturday August 3, 2024, 2:30 p.m., at  Mt. Teamer C.M.E. Church, 421 Musgray Road, Holly Springs, MS 38635

Burial will take place at Cottrell Memorial Cemetery, 505 NW Boundary St., Holly Springs, MS  38635
