Mother Odell (Huggins) Buggs

Mother Odell Huggins Buggs, 95, transitioned on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Starkville Manor Health & Rehab in Starkville, MS. 

Mrs. Odell Huggins Buggs was born October 22, 1924, to Robert and Jodie Lee Cooper Huggins in Houlka, Mississippi. She was the second of eight siblings.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and united with Second Baptist Church in Houlka, Mississippi, where she remained faithful until her health began to fail.

Odell was united in holy matrimony to Mike E. Buggs, and to this union five children were born, one daughter,  Bobbie “Bobb,”   four sons, Robert “Ned,” Tommie “Tom,” Henry “Hen,” and Wallace “Baby.”

 She was a supportive member of the Senior Citizen Group in Houlka and held several positions. She had a passion for cooking, sewing, gardening and was creatively crafty. She was lovingly known as MOMMA DELL to many in her community.

Odell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, seven siblings, two grandsons and one great-grandson.

On Monday afternoon, August 24, 2020, at Starkville Manor, Starkville, Mississippi, Odell departed this life.

To lovingly remember and cherish her is one daughter, Mrs. Bobbie Buggs (Curtis) Naugle of Indianapolis, Indiana; two sons, Tommie Buggs of Bronx, New York and Henry (Ernestine) Buggs of Houlka, Mississippi;twelve grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, six great-great- grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 4-6p.m. at Serenity-Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc. Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Thompson Chapel Church Cemetery (East County Line) in Houlka, MS. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
