Mother Lossie McGee Obituary

Mother Lossie Lee McGee, 82, of Blue Springs, MS, transitioned on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at North MS Medical Center, Tupelo, MS

Lossie Lee McGee (Carruthers) was born on March 27, 1942, in Sherman, MS, to the late Mr. and Mrs. O.B. and Ida Mae Carruthers. She was the oldest of two children. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful and devoted member of Sherman Grove M.B. Church in Sherman, MS until death.

She was a graduate of Pontotoc High School and went on to obtain her cosmetology license from Foster's Beauty School in Ripley, MS. She managed and operated the school's Sherman, MS location and later went into entrepreneurship and continued in cosmetology until retirement. She came out of retirement, in the late 90s, and worked for the Union County School District at East Union Attendance Center, as a cafeteria worker where she was loved and adored by both students and staff. She was/is known, by many, by her favorite name "Grannie".

Lossie's love for Christ was exemplified throughout various ministries including president of the usher board. kitchen committee. choir, as well as a long time Sunday school teacher.

Of all her cumulative achievements to be proud of, Lossie was mostly proud of her family. She enjoyed hosting family get togethers with her husband, attending sporting events with her late sister, bingo nights, and spending every opportunity with her children and grandchildren.

Lossie (Grannie) will be greeted in heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, parents (O.B and Ida Mae Carruthers) her sister (Mary Ilene Armstrong). grandparents (James Frank and Annie Lou Rucker), and great nephew (Martez Clay Armstrong).

Her legacy of faith, love, and family will be cherished by all she leaves behind, her husband, Eddie McGee Jr. of Blue Springs, MS; children, Roger Listenbee of Shannon, MS, Eddie McGee III (Tunisia) of Booneville, MS, Cecil Craig Westmoreland, Jr. (Valerie) of Pooler, GA; daughters, Patricia Cannon of Blue Springs. MS, Pamela Coleman of Tupelo, MS, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 12:00 Noon, at Sherman Grove M.B. Church, 208  1st Avenue, Sherman, MS  38869

Burial will take place at Red Hill Cemetery, Blue Springs, MS
