Mother Eveleana Wilson Obituary

Mother Eveleana Wilson, 70,  transitioned on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at her home in Ripley, MS.

Eveleana Wilson was born March 30, 1952 to Tom T. Johnson and Virgie Lee Clemmer-Johnson in Ripley, Mississippi.  She departed this life at her home in Ripley, Mississippi on April 28, 2022 at the age of seventy.

Eveleana received her formal education at the B. F. Ford School and during the integration period, she transferred to W. P. Daniel High School where she graduated with the class of 1972.

Eveleana professed Christ in her early age where she remained faithful until the Lord called her home to be with him. While she was here, she had a love for music and the word of God. She was a member of a gospel group called the “Golden Five”. They were truly amazing and loved to minister the good news of God. She also was a choir member at the St. James Church of God in Christ where she sang in the soprano section while giving God all of the glory. In her later years, she still wanted to serve in the music field and became the Dress Coordinator for the New Magnolia Jubilees.

Eveleana married Gabriel Alfred Wilson, Sr. in 1972 in Memphis, TN by Elder Robert Lee Sewell. They were married 50 years. During these years, she served with great love and compassion beside her husband in the Church of God in Christ church for 50 years and 24 of those years she served as First Lady of the New Beginning Church of God in Christ church in Potts Camp, MS. While she was there, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Kitchen Coordinator, and most importantly she helped bring souls to Christ. She loved helping in her community by serving at the Ripley Good Samaritans for several years.

She was preceded in death by her father: Tom T. Johnson, mother: Virgie Lee Clemmer-Johnson, infant sibling Tom T. Johnson, Jr.,  brother-in-law, Lee Junior Spight.
Eveleana leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 50 years, Elder Gabriel Alfred Wilson, Sr. and to this union the Lord blessed them with three children, Minister Gabriel A. Wilson, II (Nakia) of New Albany, MS, Christopher D. Wilson of New Albany, MS, and Reginald L. Wilson (Nadia) of Ripley, MS. She was blessed to have nine beautiful grandchildren: Aaron Golden, Latonya Taylor, Lashonda Taylor, Sequoia Wilson, Blake Wilson, Destiny Wilson, London Wilson, Stephan Massie, and Aniyah Wilson-Perkins (Torrian). She was also blessed with three beautiful great grandchildren: Brooklyn Massie and twins, Caleb and Noah Taylor. Eveleana also leaves to cherish her memories her siblings: Elder Bobby Neal Johnson (Ruby), Elder Willie Johnson (Lavoria), Missionary Annie Spight, and step-sister Hazel Ruth Barker. She leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, family, and friends
