Mother Bessie Coppage Obituary

Mother Bessie Louise “Lou” Cameron Coppage, 74, transitioned on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Bessie "Louise" Coppage was born in Tippah County, Ms. on September 16, 1945 to the late Prince Albert and Eva Gray Cameron.

In 1980, she joined Calvin Coppage, Jr. in holy matrimony. She worked as a housekeeper & nanny for Dr. & Mrs. David Williams for 13 years before retirement.
Louise was a faithful and dedicated servant -- to the Lord, first & foremost, to her family, to her community & to all that knew her. She poured her all into her ministry as "Church Mother," Sunday school teacher & President of the Usher board at Golden Gate Cathedral COGIC, where she humbly served for over 40 years, under the leadership of Superintendent Robert L. Hamilton, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her everlasting memory: one daugther, Sarah "Frances" Coleman of New Albany, Ms., two bonus daughters, Toya Coppage of Memphis, TN & Rosita (Pierre) Coppage-Stinson of Bartlett, TN, one bonus son, Cedric Coppage of Arlington, TN, four granddaughters, Natasha Roberson (Gerald) of Jackson, TN, Tajuana Young of Tupelo, MS, Montekra "Deonn" Coleman & Markita Jones (Marcus) of New Albany, one grandson: Xavier Roberson of Ecru, MS, two brothers: Frank (Lashell) Cameron of Guntown, MS & Bobby (Sandy) Cameron of New Albany and four sisters: Ruby (Bobby, Sr.) Johnson, Lavoria (Willie, Sr.) Johnson, Shirley (Willie) Hatch all of New Albany and Linda (Maurice) Griffin of Pontotoc. She also leaves 29 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Prince & Eva, her oldest daughter, Debra Ann Cameron, her son, James DeWitt Roberson & one brother John Cameron
