Melroy Humphery, 78, transitioned on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Holly Springs Health & Rehab Center
Melroy Humphery was born on April 6, 1946, to the late Sporty Humphery and Roberta Calicutt Moering in Lafayette County, MS. On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, he transitioned at Holly Springs Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Holly Springs, MS.
Melroy accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Free Springs CME Church in Harmontown, MS. He was employed as a logger with Marion Logging and Shaw Logging. He also worked with STC as a non-emergency driver and Marshall County Road and Bridge Department for several years. Melroy was an outgoing individual who enjoyed cleaning deer, working on cars, listening and dancing to music, and being around his family and friends. He was a classy dresser who loved riding.
Melroy leaves to cherish his memories: three sons: Jerroy Stewart (Emmer) of Atlanta, GA, Leeroy McAdams (Erica), and David McAdams both of Holly Springs, MS; three bonus sons: Gregory Pegues of SC, Anthony Mosley and Barrashay Pegues both of Waterford, MS; five daughters: Debbie Lozano-White (Rodney) of Horn Lake, MS, Patricia Stewart (Gaylyn) of Yorkville, IL, Lacittia Humphery of Waterford, MS, Rosezettia Humphery of Byhalia, MS, and Carolyn McAdams of Holly Springs, MS; two bonus daughters: Monika Pegues of Holly Springs, MS, and Santresa Pegues of Waterford, MS; three brothers: Dannie Moering and Ralph Moering both of Holly Springs, MS, and Willie Moering (Bernice) of Oxford, MS; three sisters: Delois Calicutt of Holly Springs, MS, Elizabeth Martin of Waterford, MS, and Charlotte Moering Marable (Henry) of Birmingham, AL; son in law: Maurice Phillips of Holly Springs, MS; thirty two grandchildren, host of great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Melroy was preceded in death by his loving parents: Sporty Humphery and Roberta Calicutt Moering; one daughter: Jackie Phillips; one brother: William Moering; and one sister: Bertha Jackson; and one granddaughter: Jasmine Humphery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635
Services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635
Burial will take place at Hill Crest Cemetery, 199 S. Market St., Holly Springs, MS 38635
