Mary D. Lester, 68, transitioned on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS

Mary D. Johnson Lester was born March 13, 1956 to the late Gladist Johnson and the late Rachel D. Johnson. She departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 6, 2024. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. Mary joined Red Bud Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. Later in life she joined Center Hill M.B. Church where she was the President of the Usher Board, President of the Kitchen Committee, member of the choir and many other committees. She was a faithful member until her health declined.

Her loving memories are left with her husband; Dennis Lester and four children, Desmond Johnson of Verona, MS, Tennille Johnson of Tupelo, MS, Angela Cummings of Pontotoc, MS and Laudawn Thompson of Olive Branch, MS, nine grandchildren, sisters and brothers; Emma (Sammy) Farr, Mimie (Eddie) Irons of Okolona, MS, Carrie (Anderson) Cunningham of Houlka, MS, Anthony Hampton of Grand Rapids, MI, Scott Johnson, Willie (Eddie Mae) Johnson and David (Tameral) Johnson all of Okolona, MS,  Rickey Devauld and Shelby Devauld of Aberdeen, MS, Essie Hogan of Hamilton, MS and Mary (Nathan) Reid of Atlanta, GA, five brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home, 248 Highway 15 South, Pontotoc, MS 38863.

Services will be held on Thursday, October, 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Center Hill M.B. Church, 591 Brassfield Rd., Pontotoc, MS 38863

Burial will take place at Pontotoc City Cemetery.
