Mary Virginia Kimmons

Ms. Mary Virginia Kimmons, 89, transitioned on Friday, January 17, 2020 at her home in New Albany. She was born November 6, 1930 in Union County, New Albany, Mississippi to Henry Barker and Willie Leatherwood. 

Mary was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. She was employed at Shands Hospital and Mohasco Furniture Company before retirement.

Mary Virginia is survived by one daughter; Mary Elizabeth Smith, grandchildren; Elizabeth Ann Smith Jones ( Larry) and Teral Smith both of Tupelo, MS, Jessie M. Smith Sinkfield (Tray) of New Albany, MS, Charles Smith (Jessica) of Blue Mountain, MS, Michael Smith of New Albany, MS and John Frank Kimmons, III, five great-grandchildren,  one great-great-grandchild, one brother; Albert Barker (Birdie) and one sister; Sarah Riddle both of Beloit, WI, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; John Kimmons, son; John Kimmons, Jr. and daughter; Mary Lee Kimmons Graham.

Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
