Mary Hairston, 85, transitioned on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Oxford, Health & Rehab, in Oxford, MS.

Mrs. Mary Alice Hairston was born January 9, 1936, to Winston Conway White Sr. and Mrs. Essie Corine Mcfarland White. Mary graduated from Water Valley High School. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Bayson Chapel M.B. Church. She was married to the late AJ Hairston.

 Mary departed her precious life on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Oxford Health and Rehab in Oxford MS. Mary was preceded in death by, her husband AJ Hairston, her brothers, James Earl White, Willie White, David White, Eugene White, Winston White Jr., and Hilton White. Two sisters, Bessie Woodall & Lottie Morgan.

 She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter Barbara Lusk (Lamar) her son, Jerry Hairston (Ginia), her sisters, Bernice Daniels of Water Valley, MS, Juanita Terrell (Charley) Oxford, MS and one brother S.T. White (Edna) Water Valley, MS. She also leaves four grandchildren, Sean Hairston, Chastin Thompson,Ashley Hairston and Kristin Thompson and ten great grandchildren; she leaves a Goddaughter Leteria McDonald and a longtime friend Sabrina Vaughn. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Services will be Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Clear Creek M.B. Church, 35 County Road 313, Oxford, MS.

Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Serenity Funeral Home of Oxford, MS, is in charge of arrangements.
