Lucy Mae Odum, 67, transitioned at her residence on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
Lucy Mae Odum was born on December 23, 1957, to the late Lawrence Martin, Sr. and Mamie Odum. She accepted Christ at any early age and joined Mt. Zion Tasha M.B. Church. She departed this life on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at her home in Red Banks, MS.
Lucy attended H.W. Byers (Sand Flat). She was employed at Hart Manufacturing for many years. Lucy was loving, kind, and a friend to all who knew her. Lucy enjoyed dancing, singing, talking, watching movies, driving around, and helping everyone she encountered.
She leaves to cherish her memories, life partner, Eddie Norfleet of Red Banks, MS; her children, Dewanna Odum (Fredrick Akins, Sr.), Lashonda Odum, Makayla Odum all of Byhalia, MS; five grandchildren, Brodgerick Odum, Alexandria Akins, Fredrick Akins, Jr., Alayja Thompson, and Ivyanna Akins all of Byhalia, MS; two brothers, Charles Odum (Merry) and George Martin (Mary) both of Byhalia, MS; four sisters, Clara Hardaway (Johnny), Mary Gatewood both of Byhalia, MS; Elnora Coleman of Nesbit, MS, and Bonnie Martin of Memphis, TN; two brothers-in-law, Alfonzo Isom and Joseph Morrison both of Byhalia, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special cousin, Laura Mae Hearn of Byhalia, MS.
Lucy is preceded in death by her loving parents, Lawrence Martin, Sr. and Mamie Odum; her first born daughter, Crystal Cassandra Odum; four sisters, Marie Walls, Florida Isom, Odessa Johnson, and Ida Morrison; four brothers, Lawrence Martin, Jr., Arthur Lee Martin, Clarence Martin, and Willie Edward; and three brothers-in-law, Van Gatewood, Lyles Walls, and Robert Coleman.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Mt. Zion Taska M.B. Church, 519 S. Mt. Zion Road, Byhalia, MS 38611.
Burial will be in the church Cemetery.
