Louisiana, who was fondly called “Louise” or “Lou” departed this earthly life on August 15, 2023.
She lived her childhood in Benton County Mississippi where received her academic education from Old Salem High School. Louise accepted the Lord as his Savior at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She visited many churches but chose Samuel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church as her home church where she continued her Christian education and worshipped under the direction of Pastor Joe Davis and Pastor Ricky Ball. She was a dedicated and active member of the mother board.
Upon leaving Benton County, as a young adult, Louise lived a brief period in St. Louis, Missouri. She later relocated to Los Angeles, California residing there and raising her only child while employed as a domestic worker. She was an active member of the Los Angeles City of Refuge Church under the leadership of Bishop Noel Jones. She was employed as a domestic worker. Around the year 2000 she returned “home” to Ashland Mississippi.
Louise was a devoted mother and loved her son unconditionally. She spoke frequently about him and her grandsons with fondness and adoration. Her face lit-up with just a call from them or just a conversation about them; giving her explicit joy.
Louise loved The Lord! She loved reading and hearing The Word! She was a committed church member. In Los Angeles, she would catch the bus to services if she could not find a ride. Lou had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing gospel songs. She also enjoyed fellowship with family and friends; especially those gathering where there was good food, and discussions about God’s words! Lou made the best peach cobbler! While in Los Angeles, she and her cousin Wardell would prepare a feast for her guests to enjoy. Louise will be remembered as a caring, loving and giving person; her tokens of love were appreciated by many.
Lou leaves many who will cherish their memories, including: her son, Al Alfred Jones; grandsons, Al Anthony Jones (Mele), Al Andrew Jones (Carla), Aaron Alexander Jones; and her great-grandchildren, D’lilah Rose, Issac Lotima, Al Anthony Jr, Andre, Malachi, Anaya, Gabriel, Samara, Jordan and Drew (JONES).
