Leo Dyson

Mr. Leo Dyson, "Gilley”, 95, of New Albany, MS, transitioned on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County.

He was born October 28, 1998, in Maryville, LA to Emma Droddy and Lee Andrews Dyson. At the age of 21 he met the love of his life, Rachel, they spent the next 72 years raising their family. Leo was a very hard working man. He enjoyed sitting on his porch and playing his harmonica he also enjoyed playing horseshoes. You would never catch him without his snuff can in his pocket or his cap on his head. When he could get away without his wife knowing he would buy scratch off tickets. One of his favorite pastime was washing and polishing his truck.

He is survived by one son; Gary (Shelly) Dyson, four daughters: Linda (Brad) Doss, Tonyann (Billy) Doss, Violet (Bob) Doss, Diane Wallace, 17 grandchildren. 36 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.

He is joined in eternity by his wife of 72 years, Rachel, his parents, one son; Jr. Dyson, sisters; May Lofton, and Pearl, brothers; Robert Dyson, Tunky Dyson, Ramen Dyson and Jesse Dyson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, 10:00 a.m. to time of Service at 2:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 722 Coulter Drive, New Albany, MS  38652.

Burial will take place at Martin Cemetery, 1352 County Road 86, New Albany, MS  38652.
