Ka'Vonte Latimore Burke, 25, of Potts Camp, MS, transitioned on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis, TN
Mr. Ka’Vonte Latimore Burke, was born January 11, 1999, in Memphis, TN, as the third child of Kevin A. Burke and Adrena Gill Burke, and step-father, Jimmie Wiseman.
Ka’Vonte AKA “TaeTae” grew up in Cape Girardeau, MO; then migrated to Holly Springs, MS. He attended Holly Springs High School but received a General Education Diploma (GED).
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined McIntyre M.B. Church; he also attended St. Paul C.M.E. Church with his grandmother, the late Annie Stinson Crane.
He was employed at Flick’s Restaurant as a cook. He was a self-taught mechanic and enjoyed his jobs. Ka’Vonte will be remembered for his compassion to help others and those in need. He was a young man that did not shy away from hard labor. He was the walking example of the term “Labor of Love.” He would go above and beyond for those that were close to him and bring a smile on their faces, He could make a way out of no way by making $1 out of 15 cents.
Ka’Vonte was full of life, love, joy, peace and happiness. He was an open book to those close to him; he did not hold any punches. He was the king of telling it to you straight! Ka’Vonte enjoyed family gatherings, which gave him the opportunity to love on them!
In the final days of Ka’Vonte’s life, after being a patient at Methodist University Hospital, he exchanged time for eternity, departing this life on November 11, 2024.
He leaves to continue his legacy one son, Ka’Mari Burke, a step-son, Ka’Vonte Gorman: one daughter, Zion’Quari Burke: parents, Kevin A. Burke and Andrena Gill Burke: grandmother, Gloria Burke; grandparents, Lizzie and Nathan Waldrop, grandfather, Pete Gill, Jr.; two brothers, Kevin Stinson and LaKendrick Wiseman; one sister, Shakeena Stinson; companion, Tynishia Gorman, along with a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.
Ka’Vonte was preceded in death by his loving grandparents: Pete Gill, Sr., Bessie Gill, Lawrence Stinson AKA “PeeWee”, Lura Stinson, Rev. Jackie Burke; Aunt Vera Stinson and Aunt Nachelle Stinson, and cousin LaMont Stinson.
Visitation will be held on Friday., November 22, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home, 14 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635
Services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Paul C.M.E. Church, 4957 Higdon Road, Holly Springs, MS 38635
Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
