Lady Jama was well known near and far for her extremely unique talents as a distinguished disc jockey (DJ). Her musical career began as a disc jockey in high school where she went to play music on weekends at Club Harlem. From there she set the musical industry ablaze, sharing her talents at nightclubs, various radio stations, blues shows, horse shows, and many other events. Anyone who knew her knew she had a keen sense for playing hits that kept everyone vibing to the beats and having a good time.In addition to music, Johnnie loved riding horses, listening to blues, playing her guitar, drawing, painting, writing poetry, and songwriting.

She leaves to cherish and honor her memories her sisters Oralean Sholar of Byhalia MS, Laura Miller of Sacramento CA, and Edna Boyd of Holly Springs MS. Additionally, she leaves to cherish her memories her loving nieces Tokela Smith and Dr. Bianca Smith. While she had no biological children of her own, she leaves behind her daughter figure Noelle Merriweather along with her grandchildren in love Nick and Beau.
