John Edward Cathey, 71, transitioned on Monday, September 12, 2022, in Memphis, TN.

John Edward Cathey was born March 19, 1951, to the late Pearline Cathey Eason and John L. Chapman in Memphis, Tennessee.

He confessed his faith at an early age and joined the church.

He was called to rest on Monday, September 12, 2022, at Spring Gate Nursing Home.

He leaves to cherish his memories four daughters, Bessie Anderson (Keith) of Holly Springs, MS, Patricia Taylor (John), Teretha Hickerson (Rodrick) and Tamika Johnson (Shondale) all of Memphis, TN;  four sons,  Robert Woods (Tomeka) of Byhalia, MS, Cedric Cathey of Memphis, TN, Ronnie Lloyd (Lori) of Covington, TN, and Mario Woods of Grand Rapids, MI; four sisters, Valerie Cathey, Jeannie Chapman, Linda Chapman, Janice Chapman all of Memphis, TN; eight brothers, Eddie Louis Cathey (Annette), Randy Eason (Lois), Stanley Eason, Carl Eason, Mickey Eason (Barbara), Ricky Eason, Ronald Chapman and Johnnie Chapman all of Memphis, TN; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, 35 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 24, 2022, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Serenity-Autry Funeral Home Chapel, Holly Springs, MS.

Service will be Sunday, September 25, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., at Serenity-Autry Funeral Home Chapel, Holly Springs, MS.

Burial will take place at Bowens Cemetery, 498 Govan Ave, Holly Springs, MS.
