James D. Pruitt

James D. Pruitt, 83, transitioned on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at  his residence in Memphis, TN.

James D. Pruitt was born January 23, 1942, in Alabama to Emitt Pruitt and Maude Waddell Pruitt. He departed this life Sunday August 24, 2025, at his residence in Memphis, TN.

James was employed as a commercial construction superintendent for several years.  He was a hard worker, who loved to attend singings at church. 

James leaves behind cherished memories of two daughters: Sherold Pruitt of Byhalia, MS, Shelia Butler and son-in-law Christopher Butler both of Atoka, TN; two grandchildren: Michaela Murray and Erica Wheeler both of Byhalia, MS; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents: Emitt Pruitt and Maude Waddell Pruitt; and wife: Betty Catherine Pruitt.

James will be laid to rest beside his loving wife Betty Catherine Pruitt together forever.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, 1:00 p.m., to 2:55 p.m., and Service will be at 3:00 p.m., at Evangel Full Gospel Assembly, 766 Evangel Road, Holly Springs, MS  38635.

Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
