James Arthur Moore, 76, of Holly Springs, MS, transitioned on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at his residence.
James “Hot” Moore was born January 23, 1948, to the late Willie f. Hunter and Lura T. Moore in Tate County, MS. He was the Baby Boy of the family.
He confessed and gave his life to Christ at an early age at the New Salem Baptist Church in Senatobia, MS. He attended Melvin Cathey School in Senatobia, MS. He was the First Black Truck Driver for Chromcraft Furniture, where he drove for 42 years, until they went out of business, ; Two in a half years later, he went to drive for Southwark Metal for 7 years. He loved L A Dodgers Baseball, fishing, spending time with his family, and playing the blues.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Lizzie T. Moore of 21 Years; five sons: James Moore Jr. of Memphis, TN, Kirk Moore of Hernando, MS, Benard Roberts of Senatobia, MS, Joey Moore of Tunica, MS, Jarvis Tuggles of Holly Springs, MS; three daughters: Jamita Tuggles of Horn Lake, MS, Shira Tuggles of Olive Branch, MS, Dyamond J. Moore of Holly Springs, MS; one bonus daughter: Norma Thomas of Memphis. TN; one sister: Mertie Chisolm of Milwaukee, WI, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
James was proceeded in death by his parents Willie F. Hunter and Lura T. Moore; a brother Curtis Seal and sister Ruby Claire Guest.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635
Services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635
Burial will take place at Chulahoma M.B. Church Cemetery, 5509 Highway 4 West, Holly Springs, MS 38635
