James Earl Malone, also known as “Bo Jack” was born May 24, 1956, in Holly Springs, MS to the late Earl Allen Malone and Magnolia Holloway Malone-Dowdy.
He obeyed the Gospel and was a member of Victoria Church of Christ.
James departed this life on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital, in Germantown, TN.
He had a passion for fishing, cooking, and grilling. James loved spending time with his family, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His famous words were “Don’t take no wooden nickels!”
He will be forever remembered and loved by his wife: Tomeka Malone of Holly Springs, MS; two sons: Demetrice Kirkwood of Aurora, IL and Donald Mason, Jr. of Holly Springs, MS; three daughters: Cadessa Kirkwood of Southaven, MS, Ellisha Walton of Holly Springs, MS and Nakia Mason of Chicago IL; five brothers: Conniel Malone, Kenneth Malone, and Joshua Malone all of Houston, TX, Kinney Malone Kimbrough of Holly Springs, MS and Robert Malone Kimbrough, Sr. of Blue Mountain, MS; two sisters: Stephanie Taylor of Bolivar, TN, and Jualdine Hudson (David) of Holly Springs, MS; three uncles: Oscar Holloway of Holly Springs, MS, Rick Holloway (Lavon) of Olive Branch, MS and Clarence Malone (Martha) of Memphis, TN; three aunts: Delois Washington and Vernetha Rucker both of Memphis, TN, and Carrie Murray of Colorado; step-father: John L. Dowdy of Slayden, MS; fourteen grandchildren: Kenyaira Kirkwood of Horn Lake, MS, JaShyah Young of Jacksonville, FL, Amaujhe’ Kirkwood of Southaven, MS, Demetria Parks of Senatobia, MS, Dacarien Calicutt of Holly Springs, MS, Kenedra Woods of Bloomington, IL, Dazhaun Neal of Jonesboro, AR, DeMiyah J. Kirkwood of Aurora IL, Dashyriah Stewart of Atlanta, GA, Amauri Joyner, E'Lashia Woods, Elijah Woods, Ezra Johnson, Trinity Joyner, Kentavian Woods, and Makiah Woods, all of Aurora, IL; 12 great-grandchildren; three special nieces: Sabrekia Robinson (Coby) of Horn Lake, MS, Sharnie Faulkner (Woodrow) of Holly Springs, MS, April Holloway (Terry) of Waterford, MS; a special friend: Cliff Cowan of Holly Springs, MS, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
James was proceeded in death by his parents: Earl Allen Malone and Magnolia Holloway Malone Dowdy; two brothers: David Malone Kimbrough, Jr., and Anthony Malone; three sisters: Earlean Robinson, Effie May Gray, and Mable Mayfield; one grandson: J'Veon Young; one niece: Maliyah Elliott; and three nephews: Davian Mckinney, Anthony Woods, and David Marquel Gray.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 8, 2026, 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.,Serenity Funeral Home 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635.
Services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, 2:00 p.m. Victoria Church of Christ 192 Friendship Rd., Victoria, MS 38679.
Interment will follow at Cottrell Memorial Gardens, 450 NW Boundary Road, Holly Springs, MS 38635.
