Mr. James Holland, 55, of Memphis, TN, transitioned on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital, in Memphis, TN.
James Holland, known to everyone as "Lil Knot," transitioned to a life of peace and tranquility on April 8, 2025, at Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. James was born in Shelby, Mississippi but grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He later moved to San Diego, California until his health began to fail.
James graduated from Percy L. Julian High School then began his college career at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After experiencing college life for one year, he decided to pursue a career as a truck driver. James was employed with Miller Brewing Company until his eyesight began to fail.
James was preceded in death by his father: James Lee Holland; brother Dion A. Holland; maternal grandparents: Richard and Corrine Hebron; paternal grandparents: Charles and Eva Mae Holland; Aunt Charlene Holland-Taylor; uncles Richard Nelson Jr. and Sammie Holland; nephew, Malik Holland; Special Memories to his stepfather, Truman Anderson.
James confessed his belief in God and was baptized at 7 years old at Old Ship of Zion by Reverend James in Chicago, Illinois. He later attended New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Louis Montgomery.
James married Michelle Greene in 1997, and was blessed with the greatest joy of his life, his son, Malcolm James Holland, who enhanced his joy with daughter in law Faviola Holland and grandchildren Elijah and Leyla Holland.
James leaves his mother, Barbara Holland- Anderson; sisters Jillian and Trumina Anderson; nieces, Kaylah Stewart and Dionna Tillman; nephew, Antione (AJ) Holland and great niece, D’Niyiah Tillman. Always blessed by many nurturing hands, he also leaves his aunts, Maxine Rollins, Elaine Hebron- Jefferson (Wayne), Eva Lynch (Van), Renitta Holsey, Angela Nabors (Roger), Elores Hicks (Kenneth), Melba Townsend (Barry); uncles, Arthur Hebron, Johnnie Holland (Anita), Henry Hebron (Janice), and George Hebron; Special cousins: Ricardo Hebron and Kenneth Hicks, Jr who provided encouragement and moral support; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 12:00 Noon, at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis Street, Holly Springs, MS 38635.
Body will lie in state one hour before service time.
Burial will take place at McLaurin Memorial Garden, Highway 61 North, Lyon, MS 38614.
