James Timothy Herod , 68, of Oxford, MS, transitioned on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Regional One Medical Center, Memphis, TN.

One Life Lived…Many Lives Touched…

Mr. James Timothy Herod was born on April 20, 1956, to the late J.B. Herod and Pearlie Mae Herod, in Oxford, MS. He was married to Nellie Sue Herod for thirty-three wonderful years, and they lived a life of love. On December 23, 2024, he transitioned peacefully at Regional One Health in Memphis, TN. He attended River Hills Church of Christ and enjoyed talking about the goodness of the Lord. 

Tim, as he was affectionately known, received his education from Lafayette County schools. He was a mechanic in the automotive industry working at Brannan Auto Repair, a job he appreciated for more than 20 years. He could fix any car and was good at it. He enjoyed spending time with family, working on cars, hanging out at Cash Saver grocery store, and talking with friends. He would always say, “I love you.” and he meant it. 

James leaves to cherish his memories four children: Felicia Key, Nicole Price, Sirena (Kinte) Brannon of Oxford, MS. Arthur W. Cathey, Jr. of Memphis, TN. Brother: Charles (Mary) Herod of Oxford, MS. Three sisters: Bobby (Sammie) Burton, Gloria (Willie) Bogard, and Flora (Alvin) Dean of Oxford, MS. Nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Special persons he called his daughters, Michelle Martin of Hickory Flat, MS, and Shawanie Young of Oxford, MS.

James was preceded in death by his wife: Nellie Sue Herod, Parents: J.B. Herod and Pearlie Mae Herod, one brother: Leland Herod, and one sister: Shirley Vaughn, Nephew: Charles Herod, Jr., Niece: Dominique Poindexter.

Viewing will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, 9:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m., and Service will  be at 11:00 a.m., at T.O.M.B. Association Building,  20 MS-334, Oxford, MS  38655

Burial will  take place at Oxford Memorial Garden, 420 N. 16th St., Oxford, MS  38655
