Mr. James Earl Walker, 80, transitioned on Monday, August 7, 2023, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS.
James “Moon” Earl Walker was born to the late Sarah Douglas and Hobbie Walker in Lee County, Mississippi on June 2, 1943. He was reared by his uncle John and aunt Mary Katherine Walker, stepmother Luna Walker, and grandparents.
A TIME TO LIVE
At an early age, James accepted Christ as his personal savior and united with New Lebanon M.B. Church in Tupelo, MS. Later in life he joined New Resident Church in Pontotoc, MS. He attended DT Cox School in Pontotoc, MS. During his life, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, detailing vehicles, and spending time with family and friends. He was employed at Mid-South Packing, Walker’s Clean-Up Shop, Superman Auto Sales, and self-employed.
A TIME TO MOURN
James leaves to cherish his memory by his children, Fredrick Boyd, Sr. (Jackie) of Pontotoc, MS, David Walker (Adlean) of Pontotoc, MS, Willie Wilder (Syreider) of South Elgin, IL, Carl Wilder (Doris) of Elgin, IL, Carla Evans (Shelby) of Elgin, IL, Jabrea Howard of Tupelo, MS;; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one sister, Lashunda Holman of Tupelo, MS; two brothers, Larry Walker and Elderidge Walker both of Detroit, MI; two aunts, Linda Bell of Verona, MS and Hattie Walker of Blue Springs, MS; a special friend, Sandra Howard of Tupelo, MS; bonded son, Larry Boyd of Tupelo, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Hobbie Walker and Sarah Douglas; stepmother, Luna Walker; brothers, Johnny B Walker and Albert Gardner; sister, Mary Thomas; grandson, Fredrick Boyd, Jr.; aunts, Luevina Wilson and Sallie Ellis; uncles, JC Walker, Lowell Walker, Sr., Henry Walker, Sam Walker, John Walker, Willie Ross Walker, and Michael Douglas. .
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at College Hill C.M.E. Church, 7027 Highway 6 East, Pontotoc, MS 38863.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, 3:00 p.m., at College Hill C.M.E. Church, 7027 Highway 6 East, Pontotoc, MS 38863.
Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
