Mr. Isaac "Ike" Marion, 79, of Holly Springs, MS, transitioned on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Methodist Hospital, in Olive Branch, MS.
Isaac “Ike” Marion was born October 20, 1944, in Marshall County, MS, to Susie Payne Marion and Brody Campbell, Sr.
Ike accepted Christ at an early age and often attended church services at Hamilton Chapel Church, in Waterford, MS.
Ike attended Rosenwald High School in Holly Springs, MS, where he was a driving force on the football team. Outside of football, Ike’s hobbies included fishing, traveling, listening to blues, babysitting his loved ones, and watching old westerns.
In 1970, Ike left MS to join a dear friend in Champaign, IL. Upon arriving in Champaign, he started his career at the Chancellor Hotel. Ike continued working there until his retirement in 2004.
Ike departed this life worldly life on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Methodist Hospital.
Leaving to cherish his memory are his three sisters: Flora Cruthirds, Lena Payne and Fannie Payne; three brothers: George Willie Payne, Jimmy (Mattie) Payne Jr., and Brody (Fannie Mae) Campbell; a special aunt who raised him Daisy Marion of Memphis, TN; as well and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.
Ike was instrumental in raising Shoney Porter, Connie Porter, and Lisa Porter Alexander. Although Ike had no biological children, he was the ideal father and grandfather of many generations of Porter.
Ike is proceeded in death by his parents: Susie Marion Payne and Brody Campbell, Sr.; his siblings: Ruthie Payne, Mary Porter Dade, Charlie Payne, and Joseph Marion.
The family of Isaac “Ike” Marion would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Fresenius Kidney Car in Holly Springs, MS. Also, a special thanks goes to caregivers Madie Faulkner and Sandra Barksdale.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Service will be on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635.
