Hugh Wesley Pratt, 73, of New Albany, MS, transitioned on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Baptist Hospital, Jackson, MS
Hugh Westly Pratt, 73, was born July 28, 1950 to John Alton Pratt and Annie B. Mosley Pratt in New Albany, MS. Hugh Westly gained his wings on December 20, 2023 at Jackson MS Baptist Medical Center where he fought with courage and kept his faith until the end of his journey. Hugh accepted Christ at an early age at Union Grove M.B. Church and reaffirmed his faith on December 19, 2023. He was a graduate of B.F. Ford, class of 1969.
He was drafted to serve in the United States Army and was very proud to serve his country. He was also a Viet Nam Veteran. Hugh was an employee of Futorian (Mohasco) Furniture for 41 years.
He loved his church family Union Grove Baptist Church and supported the youth of the church. He loved helping and sharing with the elderly and visiting nursing homes. He was a member of the New Albany Concerned Veterans group and served as one of its officers. Hugh loved cars especially his red grand prix.
He leaves cherished memories with his son; Anthony Rutherford of Blue Mountain, MS, two sisters; Sarah Ruth Graham and Sarah C. Bails, one brother; Larry D. Pratt all of New Albany, MS, a sister- in-law; Leona Pratt, a special uncle; Sam Mosley and a host of uncles, one aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends in the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents; John A. and Annie B. Pratt, brother; Johnny Pratt, nephew; Climmie Graham, niece; Alyia Graham, close friends; Charles "Chuckie" Rutherford and Harry Spears.
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, 10:30 a.m., and Services will be at 1:00 p.m., at Union Grove M.B. Church, 634 County Road 75, New Albany, MS 38652.
Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
