Mattie Mae Mallory, 86, transitioned on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Gentiva Hospice, New Albany, MS.
Hattie Mae Mallory was born on March 2, 1938, to the late Robert Plaxico and Lucy Duke in Holly Springs, MS. On Monday, June 24, 2024, she transitioned at her residence in New Albany, MS.
Hattie accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Free Branch M.B. Church in Holly Springs, MS. She was a homemaker who loved listening to music, cooking, outgoing, photogenic, and loved being around her grandchildren.
Hattie leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters: Mushida Talley of Holly Springs, MS, Beatrice Payne (Press) of Aurora, IL, and Priscilla Ann Wiseman of Memphis, TN; one brother: Acalee Pegues of Chicago, IL; one sister: Willie Mae Pegues (Ed) of Waterford, two god-daughters: Ella B. Cowan and Elnora Manning both of Memphis, TN; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and sixteen great great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving parents: Robert Plaxico and Lucy Duke; two sons: Charles Ivory Pegues, and Andy Michael Pegues; one god-daughter: Evelyn Talley; two son-in-laws: Lawrence Talley, and Cassell Wiseman; two grandchildren: Amanda Talley and Cassell Wiseman, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635
Services will held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Serenity Funeral Home, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS 38635
Burial will take place at Free Branch M.B. Church Cemetery, 791 Lunati Road, holly Springs, MS 38635
