Gene Oliver Sullivan “Boot” was born on January 3, 1959, to the late Percy Sullivan and Mary Shackelford in Pontotoc, MS. On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, he transitioned at his residence in New Albany, MS.
Gene accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in New Albany, MS. He was self-employed as a handyman for several years. Gene was an outgoing individual who enjoyed fishing, singing, dancing, cooking, grilling, and watching westerns. He was a flashy dresser who loved hats and cowboy boots.
Gene leaves to cherish his memories: wife: Brittany Foster of New Albany, MS; two sons: Legene Conner of Corinth, MS and Johnny Frazier (?) of New Albany, MS; five daughters: Brandy Nicole Hanson of New Albany, MS, Quiche Ann Conner of Corinth, MS, Sonya Bankston (John) of Jackson, MS, April Gates of Amory, MS, and Tammy Frazier of Myrtle, MS; one brother: William Sullivan of Pontotoc, MS; two sisters: Johnnie Dixon and Nancy Vaughn both of Pontotoc, MS; twenty one grandchildren, one great grandchild; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his loving parents: Percy Sullivan and Mary Shackelford; two brothers: John Lee and Bobby Joe Strong; and one sister: Mary Elizabeth Sullivan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home, 248 Highway 15 South, Pontotoc, MS 38863
Services will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 2:30 p.m., at New Birth Community Church, 615 Glade Avenue, New Albany, MS 38652
Burial will take place at Pontotoc City Cemetery, Pontotoc, MS
