Fronnie Mae Phillips Owens Market, 85, transitioned on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Oxford, MS
Fronnie Mae Phillips Owens Market was born on May 10, 1939, in Taylor, MS, to the late Edgar Phillips, Sr. and Eveline Fondren Phillips.
She was the third of eleven children. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age first attending East St. Peter M.B. Church until marriage then joining North Hopewell M.B. Church. She later joined Second Baptist M.B. Church where she served on the Mother Board, Senior Plus Ministry, choir, and ushered where she remained a faithful and dedicated member until her transition.
Fronnie Market worked at Weems School, Emerson, and Oxford Floral. She had a sweet caring spirit. She enjoyed fashion, quilting, flowers, gardening, and cooking, as we all loved her fried pies. She loved spending time with her family most of all!
Fronnie was united in holy matrimony to Garfield Owens, Sr., to this union five children were born.
God saw that she was getting tired and called his child home. Fronnie Market departed this life on the night of Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She gained her heavenly wings. She was preceded in death by her parents: Edgar Phillips, Sr. and Eveline Fondren Phillips; two children: Mabel Bell and Annette Vaughn; three sisters: Katie, Irene, and Mary Alice; three brothers: Albert, Wilma, and Edgar Jr.
Fronnie Market leaves to cherish her memories her loving children: three sons: Jimmy (Gracie) Owens, Garfield (Sonquanetta) Owens Jr., and Clifford Owens all of Taylor, MS; seven grandchildren: Jasmine Owens, Johnathan Owens, Lesley Owens, Devon Jones, Michael Bell, Alexis Hemphill, and Allison Bell; one sister: Peggy Brown of Oxford, MS; three brothers: Jimmy Phillips of Indianapolis, IN, Percy (Bonnie) Phillips, and Leodis Phillips both of Oxford MS; three great grandchildren: Hatalie Booker, Kayden Hemphill, and Magnolia Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Second Baptist Church, 611 Jackson Avenue East, Oxford, MS 38655
Services will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at Second Baptist Church, 611 Jackson Avenue East, Oxford, MS 38655
Burial will take place at Yocona Cemetery, Taylor, MS
