Mr. Farry Hue Norphlet, Sr., 80, of Oxford, MS, transitioned on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Farry Norphlet Sr. A devoted family man, steadfast worker, and beloved friend, who departed this life on June 1,2025 at the age of 80.
Born in Taylor, MS, he was the embodiment of integrity, discipline, and heart, he confessed his love for Christ at an early age. He was a man who believed in showing up, putting in the work, and taking pride in everything, he did. Whether on the job, at home, or out in the woods. He moved from Taylor, MS to the Midwest, where he met his “Pretty Little Yella Thang” Edna Sanders. They were united in marriage for 56 years and created four children together. You can say once he married Ms. Pretty Lil Yella Thang, he became an instant father to 8 little girls and gained about 5 additional brothers. One of those brothers became his best friend and it was like they were inseparable; he was there till the very end. He dedicated countless hours to providing for his family, never asking for recognition, but always earning respect. Farry would often return to visit his family, parents and siblings who are still here in Taylor. He often came bearing gifts, especially for his mother. When he wasn’t working, Farry could be found where his soul felt most at peace—in nature hunting or working out in the pasture. Where patience and precision came together like an art form. He valued the quiet lessons that the land taught him and passed those on to his children and grandchildren with the same care and wisdom he lived by.
A sharp dresser to the very end, Farry believed in looking your best no matter what the occasion, he was a “Sometimes You Gotta Pop Out And Show Em” man. Whether he was headed to Sunday service, a family gathering, or simply stepping out for the day, he carried himself with timeless style and dignity.
He was a fierce competitor around the Spades table and a king of dominoes—slamming down bones with a grin that let you know you’d just made a mistake. His laugh, his stories, and the way he made everyone feel at home will be missed more than words can say.
And if you ever had the blessing of tasting Farry’s barbecue, then you know just how special he was. He worked the grill like a True Pit Master—slow and steady, full of flavor and full of love. Whether it was ribs, brisket, or sausage, he believed in doing it right and sharing it with others. He never minded giving away his secrets, because to him, good food was meant to bring people together. He taught more than a few folks how to grill with patience, pride, and soul. Any one here now who has had your grilling skills enhanced because of him “Look up and say thank you!” Above all, Farry was a family man. His love was steady and unconditional, his advice firm but fair.
If you know you know: “You got the Ace, the King, the Queen, and the Jack!” If you know you know: “Go, get me a switch!” And his kids know before they could get the question out good…daddy can I “Noooo”
He leaves behind a legacy of strength, faith, and generosity that will live on in the lives he touched.
