Eugene Vaughn, Sr.

Mr.  Eugene Vaughn, Sr., 90, transitioned on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS.

Eugene Vaughn, Sr., was born February 9, 1931 to Tres Van Vaughn, Sr. and Ethelene Vaughn in Egypt, MS. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Pleasant Chesterville M.B. Church where he served diligently with the Deacons and Transportation Ministries. He was later instrumental in establishing the Inspirational Community Baptist Church where as a member, he continued serving as a Deacon and remained faithful until the Lord called him home.

Eugene was one who was dedicated to providing for his family. He served in the United States Army during the Korean war. After returning to Tupelo, he worked for RC Cola and Mid-South Packing in Tupelo. He later drove for Pontotoc County and eventually went to work for Pepsi Cola. Finally, ending his work career as a Bus Driver for the Pontotoc City School District. He enjoyed working in his yard, working in his garden, fishing and hunting. Eugene was an observant man. You could often find him sitting outside always willing to help any one who needed assistance.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife: Earline Boyd Vaughn, one daughter, Janice Vaughn Coleman (Tony) of Atlanta, GA, one son, Eddie Vaughn (Monique) of Carrollton, GA, daughter-in-law, Debra Elzie Vaughn of Pontotoc, MS, nine grandchildren: Kendrick, Rodrick, Timothy, Tony, April, Tiffany, Diamond, Monaz J and Basheer, one brother: James Larry Vaughn (Susie), four sisters: Othela Vaughn, Rebecca V. Harris (Thomas) and Annie Williams of Tupelo, MS and Ella Mae Vaughn of Belden, MS, two sisters-in-law: Christine Vaughn and Lucy Box, two brothers-in-law, Willie Boyd of Pontotoc, MS and Ernest Boyd (Gail) of Atlanta, GA as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Tres Van Vaughn, Sr. and Ethelene Vaughn, his son, Rev. Eugene "Buddy" Vaughn, Jr., three brothers: James Vaughn, Tres Vaughn, and Robert Box, four sisters: Nina Mae Vaughn, Viellar V. Banks, Mary A. Pulliam, and Effie Ray Vaughn.

Viewing will be Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., service to follow at 2:00 p.m., at Inspirational Community Baptist Church, Tupelo, MS.

Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery, 236 Salem Lane, Pontotoc, MS.
