Eleanor Ann Dunn Carter

Mrs. Eleanor Ann Dunn Carter, 76, transitioned on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at her residence in Holly Springs, MS.

Eleanor Ann Dunn Carter was born on February 16, 1948, to the late James Dunn and Mary Colvin Dunn in Bronx, NY.  On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, she transitioned at her residence in Holly Springs, MS.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Eleanor was a preschool teacher for over thirty-six years.  She was employed with Totally Kids Learning Center in Collierville, TN, ICS HeadStart of Mt. Pleasant, MS, and director at Slayden Baptist Church.   She enjoyed sewing, teaching, quilting, crafting, and taking care of family.

Eleanor leaves to cherish her loving memories: three sons: Jack Carter (Teresa), Thomas Carter, both of Holly Springs, MS, and Jerome Carter of Valdosta, GA; one brother: Raymond Dunn (Diane) of GA; one sister: Theresa Southwick (Steve) of TX; six grandchildren: Denise Carter (Kala) of Holly Springs, MS, Charles C.J. Carter (Madison) of Pearl, MS; Landon Carter of Byhalia, MS, Cecilia Carter of Union, MS, Tori Carter of Lamar, MS; and Alyssa Weaver of Enville, TN, and a host of  nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her loving parents: James and Mary Colvin Dunn; husband: Charles Skip Carter; six brothers: Charles Dunn, James Dunn, William Dunn, Edward Dunn, Robert Dunn, and Joseph Dunn; two sisters: Mary Dunn, her twin, Patricia Montes.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS  38635.
