Eldora Cannon Obituary

Mrs. Eldora Cannon, 87, transitioned on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at her son's residence in Lithonia, GA.

On August 22, 2020, an angel sang a song only Eldora Cannon could hear.  Eldora was born December 24, 1932 to Scott K and Mary Alice Parker, who preceded her in death.

Eldora confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Pine Bluff M.B. church in Myrtle, Mississippi.  Later she became a member of Wilson Chapel Baptist Church in Pontotoc, Mississippi, where she served and remained a faithful and devoted member until her health failed.  She was also a member of  Red Hill Senior Citizens.

Eldora was united in marriage to L.C. Cannon May 8, 1964.

Eldora is preceded in death by her husband: L.C. Cannon, two brothers: Walter Parker and Robert Parker, one sister: Effie G. Cook, two brothers-in-law: Jessie Gillard, Joseph Graham, and one sister-in-law:  Maxine Parks.

Eldora leaves to cherish her memories, two sons: Edward (Linda) Parks of Lithonia, Georgia, John R. (Ruby) Parks of Pontotoc, Mississippi, two brothers: James D. (Betty) Parks of New Albany, Mississippi, Charles L. (Betty) Parks of Myrtle, Mississippi, two sisters: Clara Graham and Odessa (Charles) Garner both of Myrtle, Mississippi, five grandchildren: Sabrina (Chris) Johnson, Jonathan Shorter, Ashley Dallas, Yulonda Brown and Pamela Dallas,  two step great-grandchildren: Kevin Lindsey Jr., Carter Lindsey of Franklin, Tennessee, three special step-children: Cathy Cannon of New Albany, Mississippi, James Kenneth Cannon of Tupelo, Mississippi and Debra Stubbs of Columbia, Missouri, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and her loving companion, Prissy.

 

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 28, 2020 from 4-6p.m. at Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home Chapel in New Albany. Burial will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Gerizum Cemetery in Myrtle, MS. Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
