Elbert "Poe Boy" McMillian

Mr. Elbert  "PoeBoy" McMillian, 65, of Prairie, MS, transitioned on Friday, May 23, 2025, at his residence.

Elbert “PoeBoy” McMillian was born on May 10, 1960, in Prairie, MS, to the late Mr. Quincy Adam McMillian, Sr. and the late Mrs. Martha J. Young McMillian. He departed this life on May 23, 2025.

At an early age, he confessed his hope in Christ and joined Third Union M.B. Church in Muldon, MS.  He was educated in the Aberdeen Public School System.  Throughout his working career, he worked several jobs: with his last place of employment being Aircap (MTD) in Shannon, MS.  He loved nature, which landed him to be an avid fisherman and hunter.

Survivors to cherish his memories are three sisters: Joe Ann McMillian Williams (Johnny) of Pasadena, MD; Lilly B. McMillian Cox of Prairie, MS, and Challice McMillian Middleton (Larry) of Aberdeen, MS; three brothers: Roy McMillian, Ray A. McMillian, Sr., (Linda) and M.C. McMillian all of Prairie, MS; special cousins: Adam McMillian of Okolona, MS and Lue Ella Jennings of Dallas, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Elbert was preceded in death by his father: Quincy Adam McMillian, Sr.; his mother: Martha Jane Young McMillian; two brothers: Willie McMillian and Quincy Adam McMillian, Jr.; one sister: Linda McMillian; one brother-in-law: Albert Cox, and two sisters-in-law: Henrietta Bell McMillian and Mary Carothers McMillian.

Viewing will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, 11:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m., and Service will be at 1:00 p.m., at Baptist Grove M. B. Church, 10024 Baptist Grove Drive, Prairie, MS  39756.

Burial will take place at Third Union M.B. Church, 10039 Third Union Road, Prairie, MS  39756.
